SURGICAL PROCEDURE

The surgical technique with Osteofix implants is basically the same as with other screw-form osseointegrating implants. Atraumatic bone and soft-tissue preparation, primary stability and nonloading of the implant during the healing time are essential for osseointegration. Implants with maximal size for the actual site should always be used.

The implant drilling should be carried out with systematic use of the drills with different diameters.

The final drilling diameter should be 3,1 for 3,8 mm implants and 3,5 for 4,2 mm implants and 4,0 for 4,8 mm implants.

Pretapping is recommended in dense bone, especially in the anterior part of the mandible. All the import details of Osteofix surgical procedures are tought during the operative courses. Passing a hands-on course before startinfg operations with the Osteofix implant system is highly recommended.
